1970-02 Camaro Standard Size Lower Ball Joint

This OEM replacement will help put your suspension back together. The Lower ball joints must be pressed in and professional installation is recommended. Includes grease fittings and dust boots for a complete replacement.

Sold individually. 2 required. Fits LH/RH side.

Note: When standard ball joints won't press into control arm, use 104113 with .0025 oversize housing.

It is a key component of the front suspension system in these Chevrolet Camaro models. The lower ball joint connects the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, enabling controlled movement and support of the front wheels.

The lower ball joint plays a critical role in bearing the weight of the vehicle and providing a pivot point for the steering and suspension system. It allows the front wheels to turn left or right, absorb bumps, and maintain stability during cornering.

For the specified years of 1970-2002 Camaro models, the lower ball joint generally follows a "press-in" design. This means it is installed by pressing it into the lower control arm and securing it with a retaining clip or castle nut.

It is important to note that the specific design and specifications of the lower ball joint may vary depending on the exact model year and trim level of the Camaro. Different manufacturers may also produce replacement ball joints with varying features and materials.

Over time, the lower ball joint can wear out due to regular use and exposure to road conditions. Indications of a failing ball joint include clunking or squeaking noises from the front suspension, compromised handling, uneven tire wear, and vibrations. If these symptoms are present, it is crucial to have the ball joint inspected and replaced if necessary, as a worn-out ball joint can compromise the safety and performance of the vehicle.

When replacing the lower ball joint, it is advisable to replace both sides simultaneously to ensure balanced suspension performance. Professional installation is typically recommended as specialized tools and expertise are often required for the pressing process.

Some replacement lower ball joints may come with additional features like grease fittings and dust boots. These components facilitate proper lubrication and protect the ball joint from contaminants, contributing to its longevity and overall performance.

The 1960s muscle car era was a time of great innovation and growth in the automotive industry. It was a period of intense competition between car manufacturers, as they sought to outdo one another with increasingly powerful and sophisticated vehicles.

During this time, muscle cars became increasingly popular, particularly among younger car enthusiasts. These cars were known for their large, powerful engines, aggressive styling, and high-performance capabilities. Some of the most iconic muscle cars of the era include the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Ford Mustang, and the Plymouth Road Runner.

The muscle car era was marked by a number of technological innovations that helped to push the limits of automotive performance. One of the most significant of these was the development of the V8 engine, which allowed for increased horsepower and torque. Other innovations included the use of lighter materials in car construction, the adoption of fuel injection systems, and the use of advanced transmission technologies.

The muscle car era was also marked by a strong sense of cultural significance. These cars were symbols of American muscle and power, and they were often featured in popular culture, such as movies and music. The muscle car era came to an end in the 1970s, as rising fuel prices and stricter emissions regulations led to a shift towards more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Despite the end of the muscle car era, these vehicles continue to hold a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. They are celebrated as symbols of a bygone era of automotive innovation and power, and their legacy lives on in the modern high-performance vehicles of today.
